2009 WORK PROGRAM – LAND USE/TRANSPORTATION SUBCOMMITTEE

 

1. Implementation of the 2005 Kankakee County Comprehensive Plan.

a. Seek adoption of supportive municipal resolutions for County Land Use Plan.

(Adopted: Chebanse, Irwin, Manteno, Momence, Sun River Terrace, Limestone,

Bradley, Grant Park, Buckingham).

b. Promote the adoption of Joint Land Resource Management Plans. Work with

municipalities and townships to update their plans to ensure consistency with the

County Land Use Plan (Adopted: Bourbonnais, Herscher, and Manteno).

 

2. Maintain and adopt Kankakee County Future Land Use Map.

 

3. Prepare a report to determine if the minimum lot area for farm dwellings is adequate as

regulated in the Kankakee County Zoning Ordinance.

 

4. Update Land Evaluation and Site Assessment (LESA).

a. Prepare update, host workshops, and recommend revisions to County Board.

b. Host workshop to educate users and elected officials on LESA Program changes.

 

5. Monitor Progress of the Pembroke/Hopkins Park Comprehensive Plan.

 

6. Prepare a report addressing the lack of industrially ready properties.

 

7. Prepare a report to reduce the over-supply of properties zoned residential, industrial and commercial.

 

8. Educate Subcommittee on legislation addressing the loss of County land use and zoning powers removed by Public Act 095-0175.

 

9. Produce Long Range Transportation Plan Update.

a. Planning session with Land Use/Transportation Subcommittee
