Bourbonnais Elementary School District is planning a deficit spending spree! A referendum to raise property taxes is likely!
Please click here to read
two articles which are from the
Bourbonnais Herald Website about Bourbonnais Elementary school district
plans to spend $620,000 to create a larger board meeting room while they
are considering a referendum for next year to build a new school because they
think the real estate decline will be over and enrollment will increase. They
are talking about budget deficits as a result of their current spending plans
while talking about adding to the spending deficit problem by building a new
school for growth that is unlikely to happen for the foreseeable future.
When fiscal responsibility should be the focus with the economy the way it is,
these people are trying to figure more ways to spend money. For $620,000 you
can rent a lot of meeting rooms and probably could use the Village of
Bourbonnais facilities at no charge if needed.
Please go to their web site if you live in the district and take their survey.
Tell them what you think.

Superintendent Myron Palomba e-mail address
PalombaM@besd53.k12.il.us or office phone 815-939-4427. You may want
to contact the superintendent directly and let him know if your budget will
allow for a property tax increase next year to cover the budget deficits they
are planning because of all the new spending and a second tax increase to cover
the cost of a new school building when enrollment is likely to drop with the
dozens and dozens of homes for sale in the area with no buyers!
