Please read the June 23 Herald front page story titled,
"Survey says...", which is from
the Herald website. You will not believe it! As most of you
know, the Bourbonnais Township Park District sent out a community survey.
According to the park district, they sent surveys to 15,000 households in
the township. Around 1270, or 8.5%, is all that was returned.
Of those returned, 82.5% or about 1048 said they were satisfied with the park
district. This represents only 7% of the total households.
Naturally the park district board and staff are hailing this as a glowing
report. Yes, that's right, the BTPD board is going to make future
tax and spend decisions on what less then 8.5% of the households within the
district said they want. Many of whom said they would not support any park
district tax increase, no matter what the project was. Thank God for the
Tax Cap Law which does limit how much the BTPD board can borrow and spend
without going to referendum.
Read the article for yourself by clicking
"Survey says..." and then call the BTPD board members and let them
know what you think about their findings. Pay special attention to the
paragraph under Needs.
