ORLAND PARK AUTHOR SPEAKS TO CRIMINAL
JUSTICE STUDENTS AT ILLINOIS STATE UNIVERSITY
Orland Park author, Ed Hammer will speak to the criminal
justice classes at Illinois State University on September 8, 2011. His topic
will be political corruption in Illinois, specifically as it relates to the
George Ryan licenses for bribes scandal.
Hammer served as an investigator in Ryan’s inspector
general’s office when Ryan was the secretary of state. Hammer’s testimony help
convict both Dean Bauer, the inspector general and George Ryan.
In his book, “One Hundred Percent Guilty”, Hammer describes
how Bauer, Ryan and others obstructed the internal investigations being
conducted by himself and his partner Russ Sonneveld. One of those cases was the
bribe by Ricardo Guzman, the truck driver who caused an accident in November of
1994 that resulted in the untimely death of the six children of Scott and Janet
Willis.
