Dear OUTRAGE!:
Currently, I am requesting of the Herscher school board to
post their check register on the internet. This is an initiative that I am
trying to bring statewide to the 875 school districts in Illinois.
The request is of little cost and uses only public information. The old
paradigm of restricted access to financial information is replaced by
harnessing the technology of the internet. With the new paradigm of
transparency, all citizens with a computer can review the 'open books' of the
school district.
From the newspaper headlines, Kankakee county schools
have an acute need for this plan! The Daily Journal and The Herald have
given excellent coverage to the idea.
