Good news story gets little coverage by the daily paper. No surprise, these days very little is being covered.
Please click on this link. http://www.ineosbio.com/80-Video.htm.
It is a short video on the
technology that will be used by the garbage-to-ethanol plant in Lake County,
Indiana which borders Kankakee County to the east. It shows the existing
plant now in operation in Fayetteville Arkansas which is available for tours.
Also take note of a statement made during the video about the scalability of the
technology. They say they can build small plants for small communities like our
area or large plants for cities the size of Chicago.
Sadly, some politically connected local people are still in denial of this
technology. In addition to former Mayor Green and new Mayor Epstein of the City
of Kankakee, local union leaders are still pushing the
Fred Barbara and
Tom Volini
dump
which would create far fewer jobs for their members then one of these plants.
It would be nice if The Daily Journal or perhaps the Herald would make some
phone calls and report on this good news story. Yes, a favorable
editorial was done on the topic but this good news story has never been covered
with any details. It is very germane story to our area since we are badly
in need of some new thinking on the part of our economic development people
who still maintain the backward thinking that a mega Chicago dump in a very
flood prone area, not far from the river, is the best future for our area.
What a joke!
Please past the word on this good news story. We need to get this
information out. There are better ideas for our future then pursuing a mega garbage dump.

A major accounting firm studied the business plan and Purdue University did a study of the science. Both organizations gave a glowing report. A plant in Arkansas is available for touring. City of Kankakee Mayoral Candidate Nina Epstein doesn’t have a clue.
Nina Epstein statement during the debate with Republican opponent Tim Schmidt about the Lake County Indiana garbage-to-ethanol plant not being viable is a disservice to the community. She admitted she did not attend the recent local public meeting with the Lake County Indiana Solid Waste Director and is still backing the Fred Barbara and Tom Volini 236 acre dump. Tim and Karen Schmidt arranged the meeting with the Lake County Indiana solid waste officials.
The garbage-to-ethanol
plant will create 400 construction jobs and140 plus jobs to run the plant at
$18.00 per hour and up.
Waste Management and
Allied have requested to take garbage to this plant because the
plant will only charge $17.50 per ton to take garbage while garbage dumps cost
up to three times that much.
