Kankakee County has been named by the Illinois Press Association as one of the top 10 violators of the Freedom Of Information Act. The County under the direction of State's Attorney Ed Smith often refuses to turn over public records when a written request by area citizens or the local press is made. This is in violation of the law. It seems that Mr. Smith and the County are above the law! What are they hiding or covering up?
