OUTRAGE supporters in the Village of Aroma Park were successful in getting the Home Rule Referendum voted down by a 8 to 2 margin in yesterday's Primary Election.
It is not surprising as they worked really hard at informing the voters of the powers Home Rule would have given to the Village of Aroma Park. Home Rule would have removed Aroma Park from the Tax Cap law which would have made large property tax increases possible. It would have given Aroma Park the opportunity for new taxes and fees they can not levy now. It would also have given them the opportunity to site a garbage dump as the Home Rule City of Kankakee has done.
Congratulation to them. It just goes to show you when voters are informed they make the right decision!
