It's a go for the garbage-to-energy plant planned  for Schneider Indiana!

Ethanol Producer Magazine in a 6-17-11 article titled "It's a go for MSW-to-ethanol plant near Chicago" reports Powers Energy of America Inc. has locked in the $600,000,000 financing needed to construct not only the plant  in Lake County Indiana but also a second plant to be built in Fairfax County, Va. which is near Washington, D.C..  Powers Energy of America Inc. plans to construct a $300,000,000 42 MMgy facility in Schneider, Ind., approximately 35 miles south of Chicago, which will begin producing ethanol and electricity in 2013. The Indiana project had previously been plagued by difficulties in securing financing and local opposition to the plant, but according to local officials and company CEO Earl Powers, those issues have been resolved.

This Schneider plant will be about 17 miles east of Grant Park and Momence.  The Momence Transfer Station will likely bring Kankakee County garbage to this plant because they will charge less then half of what a landfill charges to take garbage.  Perhaps the Bradley transfer station will too.  The technology is being licensed from Ineos.  Background information can be found here  http://www.ineosbio.com/80-Video.htm.  Two Lake County Indiana solid waste officials traveled to the City of Kankakee to speak at a town hall meeting about the proposed  plant in Schneider.  Click here to watch the meeting
