 This is what Mayor Green and mayoral candidate Nina Epstein wants to bring to our community by supporting Fred Barbara, who was implicated in a Federal mob bombing trial last year, and his partner Tom Volini's proposal to build a 236 acre, 200' high garbage mountain.  

 Garbage will be dumped directly into the deep aquifer to form the base of the garbage mountain. The location is in a very flood prone area next to Minnie Creek which drains directly into the river two miles away and upstream from the Aqua Illinois water intake pipe. This is what they want to do to our water supply i.e. the river and deep aquifer.   They are putting pressure on Kankakee County board members to stop the legal battle against this dump.  The Illinois Supreme Court has already ruled against this dump once saying it fails to protect the health and safety of the community and there is no reason to believe they won't rule against this dump again.  The county board will be voting at the January 13, 2009 board meeting
