Attempt By Mayor Green To Get County Board To Withdraw Legal Cases Against The Volini Dump Fails! (+)

Sam Nicholos of Kankakee, Kelly McLaren of Bradley,  Elmer Wilson of Kankakee and Karen Campbell of  Kankakee led the charge at today's County Board meeting to get board members to vote in favor of withdrawing the County's legal cases at the Illinois Supreme Court and the Appellate Court against the proposed City of Kankakee/Tom Volini, Fred Barbara Chicago regional garbage dump. They were doing this at the request of Mayor Green and Tom Volini.

Karen Campbell is a employee of the City of Kankakee and Elmer Wilson is on the City of Kankakee Planning Commission.  As a result both of these County Board members have a conflict of interest and should not have voted on this issue.

Thankfully their move failed.  A roll call vote was demanded by Ann Bernard and the majority voted against withdrawing the legal cases.  This is very good news for those of us who put a value on the river and aquifer that will be polluted by this proposed dump.  This means the legal cases will go on and there is a very good chance the City of Kankakee and Tom Volini will loose and they know it.  This is why the City was offering a portion of the Tom Volini promised garbage money to the County if they would withdraw their cases.

Also voting in favor of withdrawing the legal cases against the Volini dump and thereby selling out the community was Roger Hess of Momence, Frances Jackson of Kankakee, Tim Gentry of Kankakee and Leo Whitten of Bradley.

If any of the County Board members mentioned above represent your district, call them and ask why they are so willing to sell out this community for the money?
