CITY OF KANKAKEE ETHICS
The ethics of Mayor Green and the City Council have been less then stellar. The decision to site a 236 acre, 200 feet high Chicago regional garbage dump on it's neighbors in Otto Township by strip annexing land along the railroad track may be legal but is not ethical. Dumping on Otto Township residents on the edge of the city means they get all the smell, blowing trash, truck traffic but at the same time have no vote to throw out the perpetrators, Mayor Green and the City Council. Not only Otto Township residents will be dumped on. All residents in the area who drink water or use the river for boating , fishing etc. will be negatively impacted by the City's trash for cash decision. Why? Because the proposed dump will dig through shallow and deep aquifers which feed hundreds of wells and the river. It is also in the immediate water shed of the river surround on three sides by Mini Creek which drains directly into the river up stream from the Aqua Illinois water intake pipe. A nice campaign donation has since been received by Mayor Green from the Garbage dump developer.
Speaking of Campaign donations, Mayor Green and the City Council recently gave out a no-bid contract for garbage removal to the only garbage service provider in the area who donated to Mayor Green's campaign. City of Kankakee residents were already paying this service provider the highest garbage removal fee ($15.50 per month) for any Village or City in the County. Now under this no-bid contract the fees will rise 20%. St. Anne recently went to bid for their garbage removal and the lowest bid came in at $10.50 per month. I guess St. Anne does not believe in sweet heart deals for campaign donations.
Up Date: OUTRAGE has recently obtained copies of the Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times' investigative articles which outlines Fred Barbara's link to the Chicago Mob & Hired Truck Scandal. Fred Barbara is a partner with Tom Volini who is the developer of the proposed City of Kankakee Chicago regional garbage dump. This is another example of the ethics of Mayor Green and the City Council.
