OUTRAGE is an all volunteer, non-partisan General -Not- For -Profit Corporation. A watchdog group which urges citizen involvement in the democratic process. OUTRAGE monitors local government actions for compliance with state statutes and cost-effectiveness. After thorough research, OUTRAGE makes proposals for cost-cutting and legislative changes to bring about more efficiency in government.

The County of Kankakee and most local government bodies are not motivated to cut costs or be more efficient with taxpayer money. Many don't follow State Statutes such as Truth In Taxation, Freedom of Information and the Open Meetings Act. Instead they are big on backroom deals that only benefit the chosen few at the expense of the many.

Exposed, fought and defeated a Kankakee County Sales Tax grab three times which would

have raised the area sales tax by as much as 16%.

Exposed a secretly submitted land grant application that would have cost Bourbonnais Township Park District residents $4.3 million dollars in developmental costs.

Encouraged and succeeded in getting the Bourbonnais Elementary School Board to reduce their tax levy by $100,000.

Exposed under reporting of property tax increases by the County of Kankakee, Bourbonnais Township Park District, Bradley-Bourbonnais High School District and several others. BBCHS has since discontinued the practice!

Circulated tax reduction referenda petitions to reduce BTPD property taxes. This action caused the Park District Board to place tax reduction referenda on the ballot which resulted in property tax reductions for BTPD residents.

Helped Aroma Park Citizens defeat a referendum to make Aroma Park a Home Rule community which would have given the village board additional powers to tax and spend.

Work with other community citizen groups in their battles against government excesses. They include several in the South and North/West suburbs and as far away as Florida. They also include the local group POWER in the fight against the proposed Chicago regional garbage dumps to be located in the immediate water shed of the Kankakee River.

Exposed, fought and defeated Bradley/Bourbonnais High School district 307 (BBCHS) 2006 & 2007 property tax referendum which would have raise property taxes by millions over the coming decade while allowing residential and retail developers to pay little or nothing in support of schools through TIF districts and the lack of proper school impact fees on residential developers.
